Becoming Part of the 109 Family
If you’ve been around churches for a while, or even if this is all brand new, you might hear us use the phrase “placing membership.”
It’s simply the way we describe choosing to make this church your spiritual home and officially becoming part of the 109 family.
Placing membership is not about joining an organization or signing up for a program. It is about belonging to a church family. It means worshiping, serving, and growing together with people who share a desire to follow Jesus.
Our hope is that as we walk together, our passion for Jesus continues to grow and naturally leads to a deeper compassion for others.
What It Means
At its heart, placing membership is about spiritual care, belonging, and shared purpose.
When you place membership, you are saying that you want to walk alongside the people of 109, to be known here, and to grow together as part of this family. You are inviting this church, and especially our elders, to pray for you, care for you, and walk with you as you grow in your faith.
As we share life together, our prayer is that our passion for Jesus continues to deepen and that it overflows into compassion for others.
The Role of Our Elders
In Scripture, elders are described as shepherds, and that language matters to us.
Our elders are entrusted with the care of the 109 family. They desire to know you, support you, and walk with you through every season of life. As shepherds, they seek to lead in the way of Christ, helping this church grow in love for Jesus and in care for one another and the world around us.
Placing membership means allowing yourself to be cared for and shepherded through real relationships that help shape us into people who reflect the heart of Christ.

Meet with Our Elders
Someone will reach out to schedule a time for you to meet with the elders. This is not an interview or an exam. It is simply an opportunity to get to know one another, hear your story, and answer any questions you may have.
Step Into the Life of the Church
From there, we will help you find ways to connect and become involved in the life of the 109 family as we continue growing together in our passion for Jesus and compassion for others.

That is completely okay.
You are not expected to already understand our language, structure, or traditions. We are always glad to explain what we believe, why we do what we do, and how we seek to follow Jesus faithfully together.
